The City of Raleigh Employees' Credit Union is just one of many fringe benefits provided to City employees and their spouses.

Founded in 1956, the Credit Union provides employees with a simple, easy way to save or borrow money at a better interest rate than would be available at most banks and other commercial institutions.

Loans for Credit Union members are made possible because of member deposits. All money deposited into the Credit Union is the property of the members of the Credit Union.

Although the City sanctions the existence of the Credit Union and provides space for its operation, the Credit Union is a separate entity with its own charter and bylaws.

The Credit Union is a state-chartered financial institution governed by the General Statutes of the State of North Carolina.
